If there’s one thing I know for sure it’s that we all love a fresh start, and nothing says “fresh start” like the first signs of spring. The light lingers a little longer, the air feels a little softer, and everything around us starts blooming — except, maybe, our energy.
This season has a way of pulling us out of hibernation mode, but if you’ve been running on empty, the idea of growth, joy, and new beginnings can feel... kind of exhausting.
I’ve learned (the hard way) that feeling “full” doesn’t just happen on its own. Whether it’s a cozy corner at home, a five-minute dance break, or a conversation with someone who lights you up — it takes intention to refill your cup.
So, in the spirit of spring cleaning for the soul, I’m sharing eight simple ways I’ve been resetting, recharging, and making space for the good stuff lately. Consider this your gentle nudge to choose yourself — and to start small.

A Gentle Reminder: Growth Deserves Grace
Even though the calendar said Spring started a few weeks ago, it wasn't until this past week that I really began to feel like Spring has sprung — both in my heart & in the air. The change in weather activated joy in me, despite spending that time in bed recovering from getting my wisdom teeth pulled... but that's life isn't it…
1. Get Outside — Like, Actually Go Outside
...not just the shuffle from your car to the store. Step into nature, breathe deeply, and take a long walk, or just sit in the sun with no agenda. Time outside can work wonders for your mood and mindset, and your vitamin D levels will thank you.
💡 Tip: Schedule a 10-minute “sun break” on your calendar like you would a meeting. Treat it like it’s non-negotiable — even if all you do is stand on your porch or walk around the block.
2. Romanticize Your Morning Routine
Ditch the rushed, eyes-barely-open coffee chugging. Light a candle. Play your favorite playlist. Use the special mug. Make your beverage of choice fancy. Your morning deserves more than autopilot — turn it into an experience worth looking forward to.
💡 Tip: Pick one small upgrade for your mornings — a cozy mug, a new coffee blend, a candle, or a 5-song playlist — and make it your new ritual for a week. Small tweaks = big vibe shifts.
3. Feed Your Brain
Read a book that isn’t on a “should read” list. Take a random class. Listen to a podcast that makes you laugh or think. Curiosity is free and a curious mind is a cup that rarely runs dry.
💡 Tip: Keep a “curiosity list” on your phone. Whenever you think, "I should learn more about that", add it to the list then make it a habit to explore one item a week.
4. Connect With People Who Light You Up
Your circle shapes your spark, so give your social life a little spring cleaning. Make space for people who leave you feeling seen, heard, and energized — not emotionally overdrawn.
💡 Tip: Make a short “hype list” of people who always leave you feeling energized (no drama, no draining). Text one of them this week and set a catch-up date, even if it’s just a voice memo or a 15-min call.

5. Declutter Your Digital Life
Organize your desktop. Clean out your camera roll (looking at you, screenshot hoarder). Unfollow, unsubscribe, unfriend — anything that drains you. Spring clean your feed and watch your mental space bloom.
💡 Tip: Pick one category per day for a week: unfollow, unsubscribe, clear old downloads, delete photos, organize files. Breaking it into tiny chunks makes it way less overwhelming.
6. Plant Something (Or At Least Try)
Watching something grow — even a single stubborn little sprout — reminds you of your own capacity to grow, too.
💡 Tip: Start with a low-maintenance plant like a succulent, snake plant, or herbs in a windowsill. Name it, water it, and celebrate every new sprout like it’s a personal win.
7. Move Your Body Because You Can…
...and not because you "should." Movement isn’t a punishment for eating cupcakes. Stretch in the morning. Walk the scenic route. Dance around your kitchen. Movement fills your cup in ways a to-do list never will.
💡 Tip: Set a "move for five" rule. Five minutes of stretching, walking, or dancing — that’s it. If you want to keep going, great. If not, five still counts.
8. Create Something Just for the Fun of It
Paint badly. Write nonsense. Bake a lopsided cake. Creativity is about the process, not perfection. Get out of your own head and get into a flow.
💡 Tip: Give yourself a 15-minute Perfectly Imperfect Break. No pressure, no perfection — just 15 minutes to create, even if it's just doodles or a boxed cake recipe. The fun is in the doing.
If you’ve read this far, I hope you’ll you hit the heart at the bottom of this post or your email. It’ll only take you a second & it’ll make a huge difference to me 💛

Final Reflections
Spring is nature’s way of reminding us that growth, joy, and fresh starts are always on the table — but you can’t pour from an empty cup. Filling your cup this spring doesn’t have to look like a total life overhaul. Sometimes it’s as simple as moving your body, swapping out your mug, or clearing out digital clutter to make room for more of what makes you feel like you.
So here’s to a season of small shifts, quiet joys, and choosing yourself — consistently, kindly, and on purpose. I'll be over here cheering you on.
P.S. Which square are you starting with? ’d love to know what’s filling your cup this season.
P.P.S. If this gave you that little nudge you needed, forward it to a friend who could use the reminder too. Joy’s always better when it’s shared.

Heavy on the plant something as I get my garden in shape. I love these tips! I’ve also been doing a heavy digital declutter and organization. I deleted a ton of photos and have been unfollowing people ever so slowly. Because why on earth am I following a thousand people when I don’t even people that much 🤣
Love the highlight on value of curiosity. I truly think curiosity and ability to feel awe, are two of the greatest gifts in life. For real. I’ve been writing my wishes for life and one of my main ones is I want my children to be happy, healthy, and curious. Whole post is beautifully written!
